Each year, students at Hammer Montessori celebrate our school’s namesake Henry Hammer, learning about his contribution to our community. To celebrate what would have been his 103rd birthday in 2025, his daughter Betsy Hammer Carr held a special assembly for our students and read This is the Dream, a story about civil leaders standing up for their dreams and beliefs.
Each student wrote a postcard to Betsy Hammer Carr describing what both Henry Hammer the person and Hammer Montessori the school mean to them, and these postcards were presented to her in appreciation to her and her family. This heartfelt project, organized and funded by the Hammer Montessori Foundation, beautifully captures the messages of appreciation for Henry, Betsy, and the impact of Hammer Elementary.
